What is ThriftFind?
ThriftFind is Nepal's online marketplace for buying and selling pre-loved items. We connect sellers who want to declutter or earn income with buyers looking for affordable, unique, and sustainable secondhand fashion, accessories, electronics, and more. The platform is free to use for listing and browsing.
Is it free to list items on ThriftFind?
Yes, listing items on ThriftFind is completely free. There are no listing fees, subscription costs, or commissions on sales. You create an account, upload photos, write a description, set your price, and your listing goes live.
How do I create a listing?
Sign in to your account and click 'Sell an Item' or navigate to the Create page. Upload at least one clear photo of your item, write a descriptive title and detailed description, select the appropriate category and condition, set your price in NPR, and add your location. The more detail you provide, the faster your item is likely to sell.
How do I buy an item?
Browse listings on the Explore page using search, category filters, price range, and condition filters. When you find something you like, view the full listing to see all photos and the description. Contact the seller through the listing page to ask questions, negotiate price, or arrange pickup or delivery. Transactions are arranged directly between buyers and sellers.
What is the ThriftFind Tick (verified badge)?
The ThriftFind Tick is an orange verification badge that appears next to a seller's name. It indicates that the seller has been reviewed and verified by our team. Verified sellers have confirmed their identity and demonstrated trustworthy selling practices. While verification is not mandatory, it significantly increases buyer confidence and listing visibility.
How do I get verified?
To apply for verification, go to your profile settings and navigate to the Verification section. The process involves identity confirmation and a review of your selling history. Meeting verification criteria — such as having an active account with positive reviews — improves your chances of approval. You can learn more on our About Blue Tick page.
What items can I sell on ThriftFind?
You can sell pre-loved clothing, shoes, bags, accessories, electronics, books, home goods, and other secondhand items that are legal to sell in Nepal. Items must be honestly described and accurately photographed. We do not allow adult content, counterfeit goods, weapons, hazardous materials, or any items prohibited by Nepali law.
What items are not allowed?
ThriftFind prohibits listings for counterfeit or replica brand goods, stolen items, weapons or explosives, drugs or controlled substances, adult or explicit content, live animals, hazardous chemicals, and any items that violate local laws. Listings that violate these policies will be removed, and repeat offenders may have their accounts suspended.
How do I price my items?
Research similar items on ThriftFind to understand market rates. A general rule: items in excellent condition sell for 50-70% of original retail price, good condition items at 30-50%, and items with visible wear at 15-30%. How do I take good listing photos?
Use natural daylight near a window, place items on a clean neutral background, and take at least four photos: front, back, detail/label shot, and any flaws. Avoid using flash, and clean your camera lens before shooting. We have a detailed photography guide on our blog with step-by-step tips.
Is it safe to buy from strangers online?
Online marketplace transactions are generally safe when you follow basic precautions. Check seller profiles for verification badges and reviews. Ask questions before committing. For in-person meetups, choose public locations during daylight hours and tell someone where you are going. For payment, use traceable methods like bank transfer or eSewa. How do I report a suspicious listing or user?
If you encounter a listing that appears fraudulent, misleading, or violates our policies, you can report it using the report feature on the listing page. For user-related concerns, contact us through the Contact page with relevant details and screenshots. Our moderation team reviews all reports and takes action as needed.
Can I edit or delete my listing after publishing?
Yes, you can edit your listing at any time to update photos, descriptions, pricing, or other details. You can also mark items as sold or delete listings entirely from your profile dashboard. Keeping your listings current helps maintain a positive experience for buyers and improves your seller reputation.
What payment methods are available?
ThriftFind does not process payments directly. Buyers and sellers arrange payment between themselves. Common methods in Nepal include cash for in-person transactions, bank transfer, eSewa, Khalti, and other digital wallets. We recommend using traceable payment methods for amounts above NPR 5,000 to protect both parties.
How does the review system work?
After a transaction, buyers can leave reviews for sellers. Reviews include a star rating and optional text describing the experience. Positive reviews build seller reputation, increase visibility in search results, and help future buyers make informed decisions. We encourage honest, constructive reviews that reflect the actual transaction experience.
What is the leaderboard?
The ThriftFind leaderboard ranks top sellers based on factors like review scores, number of successful transactions, verification status, and overall community reputation. Being featured on the leaderboard increases visibility and trust. It is a way to recognise sellers who consistently provide excellent experiences.
Do you offer delivery services?
ThriftFind itself does not provide delivery services. However, many sellers offer delivery options within their listings, including meetup locations, courier services, or postal shipping. Delivery terms, costs, and methods are arranged between the buyer and seller. Always confirm delivery arrangements before completing a transaction.
How do I delete my account?
If you wish to delete your account, please contact us through the Contact page with your request. We will process account deletions in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Please note that deleting your account will remove your listings, reviews, and profile information permanently.
